Worship

Christian worship joyfully assigns all praise and honor, glory and power to the Triune God.  In worship, we acknowledge that God is present in the world and in our lives.  As we respond to God’s claim and redeeming love  in Jesus Christ, we are transformed and renewed.  In worship, we offer ourselves to God and are equipped for God’s service in the world.

SUNDAY MORNING WORSHIP – 10:15 a.m.

Sunday morning worship at Cherry Hill is a traditional service with organ, hymns, prayer,  and sermon. We celebrate the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper on the first Sunday of the month. Special worship services are scheduled during Advent and Christmas, and also during Lent and Easter.

Sunday Worship Spring 2019

Sunday, May 5                  “The Stranger” – Luke 24: 13-31                                                      Jesus appears to the two disciples on the road, but they are kept from recognizing Him until they sit at table with him and break bread.

Sunday, May 12    “Going Where You Don’t Want to Go”  – John 21: 15-19                           Jesus  meets the disciples on the beach and comes face to face with Peter and asks him, “Do you love me?” If so, feed my sheep.” However, feeding the sheep sometimes takes us in unexpected directions.

Sunday, May 19                “Believing is Seeing” – John 20: 19-31                                                              Two times after his resurrection, Jesus appears in the upper room where the disciples are hiding. Thomas is not present the first time and refuses to believe unless he sees the nail prints in Jesus’ hands.

Sunday, May 26                  “For Your Good … I am Leaving” – John 14: 15-31                              While this account does not take place after the resurrection, Jesus is preparing the disciples for his departure from this world …  “a little while longer and you will not see me.”

Sunday, June 2 – Sunday After the Ascension   “Up, Up, and Away!” – Acts 1: 1-14          Jesus appears for one last appearance with the disciples. While he is speaking, he ascends into heaven. The disciples are left looking up at the sky in amazement… that is … until they are told what to do next!
